Magistrates' Court
The Magistrates’ Court is the lowest civil court in Malaysia, hearing claims that do not exceed a set financial limit.[1]
For most civil disputes that limit decides where a case is filed, but road accident claims differ. The Sessions Court has unlimited jurisdiction over motor-vehicle-accident claims, so most go straight there, whatever the size of the claim.
This matters mainly so that court paperwork makes sense. It rarely changes what you need to do as a claimant.
How and where a claim is filed walks through the process. Filing is a step where an independent lawyer can take on the claim for you.
