Knock-for-knock
A knock-for-knock arrangement is an agreement between insurers where each one pays its own policyholder’s vehicle damage without first fighting over who caused the accident.
The aim is speed. Each insurer pays its own side, so repairs are not held up while both prove fault.
Knock-for-knock covers vehicle repair costs between insurers only. It does not decide who was at fault, and it does not settle a personal injury claim, which still depends on proving what happened.
If your vehicle was repaired this way but you were also hurt, how compensation for your injury is worked out runs on a separate track. An independent lawyer can take on that injury claim.
