Consent order
A consent order is a court order that records something both parties have agreed, rather than something the court decided after argument.
In a road accident claim, it most often appears at settlement. It turns the agreed figure and terms into a binding court record. It can also cover smaller agreements along the way, such as a timetable for exchanging documents.
Because it records what you agreed, check the terms before it is filed. Challenging it afterwards is much harder. An independent lawyer can read the terms with you at that point.
How a settlement becomes a consent judgment explains this final step.
