Affidavit

An affidavit is a written statement of facts, sworn or affirmed before a commissioner for oaths or another authorised officer, used as evidence in a court application or proceeding.

In a road accident claim, an affidavit might support an application when filing a claim in court, confirm facts for an interim application, or set out evidence where a witness cannot attend in person. Because it is sworn, giving false information in it is a serious offence.

Accurate dates and details matter more than length, since the document stands as your formal evidence on record.

An independent lawyer can prepare the wording when they take your claim on. The facts inside must come from you and be true to the best of your knowledge.
